When enacted, the Education (Vocational Education and Training Reform) Amendment Bill will make all 16 existing Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) limited liability companies wholly owned by NZIST on 1 April 2020. The NZIST Council must appoint a board of directors for each new company. The appointment of directors will be a very visible change in the nature of ITPs.
In line with the process outlined in this document [PDF, 154 KB], the IST Establishment Board is now seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified people to be considered for appointment to the Boards of each subsidiary company.
Nominees for a directorship should have the necessary skills and experience to enable them to meet the requirements of a director in terms of the Companies Act 1993 and other relevant legislation and have the demonstrated skills to contribute to the Board.
Full information, including a downloadable position specification for each ITP is available at istestablishment.ac.nz/boardapplication.
To register, please send your CV and covering letter, along with the name of the entity(s) you are applying for, to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm, Tuesday 7 January 2020.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place at 18 locations throughout the country from 20 January through to 14 February.
Appointments to the new Boards need to be completed by March 2020 to enable a seamless transition from ITPs to company subsidiaries. Remuneration details are still being worked through and will be based on the Cabinet fees framework.
