We need a vibrant location in which to create a new kind of organisation that will deliver work-based, off-the-job, and online vocational learning and training through a network of provision right across the country.
The Institute will be a unified, sustainable, public network of regionally accessible vocational education, bringing together the existing 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics. It will have the national and regional reach required to become a long-term skills training partner for firms and industries, enabling learners to move between educational offerings and locations as their needs change.
We need the new home to be in Aotearoa/New Zealand with strong links to other population centres via air, road, or rail. The location must be able to support the arrival of a new Headquarters function and have the infrastructure in place to support the Institute during the establishment phase and into the future.
We are looking for evidence of partnership with iwi, and positive local engagement with Councils, schools, Kura, and tertiary organisations, alongside strong local support and interest across the whole sector. We actively encourage joint regional or city bids from Councils, Economic Development Agencies, Chambers of Commerce and so on.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a major New Zealand education initiative.
For detailed information regarding the registration process is available on the Government Electronic Tender Service (GETS)(external link). Bids must be submitted in accordance with the documented process by 5pm on 15 January 2020.
