The Executive Director of the New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology Establishment Unit will be Murray Strong, says New Zealand Institute of Technology Establishment Board chair, Barry Jordan.
The appointment is part of the changes to Reform of Vocational Education, announced by Minister of Education, Chris Hipkins on 1 August, Mr Jordan says.
“Murray will lead the establishment unit of the institute in an interim role until 31 March 2020.
“Murray brings enormous experience to the role. He is currently a Crown Manager at Tai Poutini Polytechnic and Unitec and chair of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). He will keep his Crown Manager roles but stand aside as chair of NZQA for the duration of this appointment.
“Over the next few weeks, Murray will look to appoint staff to key roles as we continue the work towards the April 2020 target date to form the new institute.”
