The Executive Director of the Establishment Unit for the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology will be Murray Strong, says Establishment Board chair, Barry Jordan.
The work of the Establishment Board and Unit focus on one of seven key changes that make up the Reform of Vocational Education announced by Education Minister Chris Hipkins on 1 August, Mr Jordan says.
“Murray will lead the Establishment Unit of the institute in an interim role until 31 March 2020.
“Murray brings enormous experience to the role. He is currently a Crown Manager at Tai Poutini Polytechnic and Unitec and chair of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). He will keep his Crown Manager roles but stand aside as chair of NZQA for the duration of this appointment.
“Over the next few weeks, Murray will look to appoint staff to key roles as we continue the work towards the April 2020 target date to form the new institute.”
